Winners of the Project Mojave Contest . . . A Video on What the Hell Project Mojave IS (And a Bunch of Other Stuff)

Hey, it’s Clay here, and I’m getting ready to open the doors to Project Mojave today (Tuesday) . . . at 4:30 Eastern (1:30 Pacific).
I hope you’re getting ready to KILL it with your freedom business.
Anyway, I’ve got lot’s of great stuff in this blog post for you today… like…
1. I’m announcing the winners of the Project Mojave Contest
2. A short video interview by Cody McKibben that explains who the HELL I am and what the heck Project Mojave is fundamentally about (at its core).
3. Lot’s of other cool stuff.
But before I get to that, I want you to know . . .
The Main Purpose of Project Mojave
The main purpose of project Mojave is to SHOW YOU (side-by-side with me in the trenches) how to create a business that allows you to work when and how you want, spend more time with family, and that enables you to live a life of massive personal freedom.
Project Mojave was created after it became clear to me that . . .
- Too many people get up in the morning dreading their upcoming work day.
- Most people will retire from jobs that they dislike (as much as the ones they have now).
- Too many people’s jobs are the #1 life-sucking force in their lives.
- We’re going to take a very new approach to teaching and learning and I think you’ll be in for quite a few surprises.
Anyway, Project Mojave is, quite literally, a project. And over the course of 3.8 months, I’ll be building a Freedom Business *alongside* YOU. So as you’re building a freedom business, I will be too.
In fact, I’ll be selecting someone’s business idea . . . and turning it into a successful AUTOMATED business. In my “spare time.” And showing you what I’m doing.
We won’t ONLY be *teaching* Project Mojave members how to build a Freedom Business.
We’ll be showing them as well. (While I’m building a Freedom Business, you will be also).
I’m going to literally build a successful business right before you eyes, while you’re also building one.
Anyway, In Project Mojave, I’m Going to Show You . . .
- How to use market research to get over your fear (of failure, going broke, pain etc.).
- Step-by-step instructions to begin a very small but profitable business to ease into making money.
- How to try new business ideas before you develop a product.
- How to figure out the business ideas you can start — with your skills — and actually be excited about for years to come.
- How to find reliable sources of income that don’t monopolize all of your free time.
- Detailed instructions on how to discover profitable markets and niches that others are overlooking (and that can fund your freedom for years).
- How to decide which of your ideas will likely be the MOST profitable and succeed.
- How to eliminate much of the uncertainty involved in starting a business and launching a product.
- How to figure out which of your skills are sufficiently developed to finance an independent lifestyle.
- A step-by-step blueprint for testing whether or not people want to BUY the product you want to make.
- How to “run” with your business ideas and make them profitable as quickly as possible.
- How to specifically focus your time and energy so that you’re not wasting time or resources.
- How to determine the best way to market your business (SEO, Adwords, etc.)
- And really, there’s a lot more. But you’re find out more when we start accepting new Project Mojave members.
Who The Hell I am, And What the Hell Project Mojave is About
If you’re still wondering what the hell Project Mojave is about (and who the hell I am), then this video is probably the #1 piece of launch content you should watch. Hands down.
Winners of the Project Mojave Contest Announced
We had SO MANY ridiculously good entries for the Project Mojave contest. And thank YOU for all the amazing and thoughtful entries.
Picking two winners was *very* difficult.
But after lots of reading and thinking, I chose the winners around 2AM this morning.
Anyway, if you get a chance, it would mean a lot to me if you could take a quick sec and congratulate the winners in the comments section on this page.
Winning Entry #1: Tim Kerr

I’m working full time in sales and studying part time, and it’s killing me. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, my family and my studies, but my wife accuses me (rightly so) of spreading myself thin. I’m a drummer and musician at heart, and my first love is to play and teach drums and percussion. I was self-employed in that capacity for a number of years. The money wasn’t fantastic and the work was inconsistent, but I loved it.
The kids were a major factor in my deciding to put that aspect of my life aside for a season and earn a full-time wage. When my daughter came along three years ago, I decided the best thing to do was to shelve the gigs and teaching, and work full time. My main reasoning was that my family depended on me for an income because my wife was no longer working. Now, I earn enough to get us by, but not much more.
We’re not poor, but we’re not exactly getting ahead, either. I don’t hate my job, the company I work for is fantastic, but it’s not where I really want to be.
Talking of freedom, I want some! I work retail hours. I work Tuesday to Saturday. I see my kids for an hour or two in the morning and another hour or so at night.
My wife is pregnant with our third child and I wish there was something I could do to be able to help her more. My kids aren’t even at school yet, but I want to become more involved in their lives, as they won’t be young forever. I would love to be able to work from home so that I can be there to support my wife and love my kids. I would love to be able to take them on a holiday for a week or two every now and then. I want to be able to be there for my family when they need me.
Did I mention study? I’m completing my Masters in Music this year, with a view to commencing my Doctorate in Creative Industries next year. Having the flexibility to go to uni when I need to, rather than just on my one day off (which chews into more family time) is the stuff of dreams right now. I would also love to be able to work in a capacity that would enable me to take on the occasional recording session, or drum tech a festival, or (heaven forbid) small tour if the opportunity arises, or even a few local gigs here and there.
My passion is to play the drums, and to help others get better at playing also. I have already in the last year developed a drum method book, based on the last 15 years of my experience as a drummer and drum teacher. This book is essentially my “ideal” drum method book. It is designed to give a budding drummer the skills and knowledge they need in order to function as a working drummer.
I can see potential for this book to be sold online in modules in PDF and MP3 format. I can also see a number of ways that the product line can be expanded. People who buy into the book could then have member access to a library of videos and other resources to tap into. Each chapter of the book has potential to be expanded into further modules that build on what the student has already learned.
I’m not trying to sap people’s money by telling them they can have “instant results” or other crap like that. I’ve been teaching for too long to know that instant results are non-existent. Playing the drums well requires dedication and commitment. I simply want to help other people achieve to the best of their ability. I want to help average people achieve their dream of being able to play drums in a band.
I also have an idea of building drums from recycled hardwoods, but this is more of a long-term thing.
My weakness is, I have no real idea about how to put all of this together into something that will earn me an income. I play and teach well, but I’m not really business-savvy. I know I don’t know everything, and this is one massive hole in my knowledge base. I guess that would be where Project Mojave would come in. Right now I have no money to play with. I’m saving a bit here and a bit there for birthdays and Christmas, but I don’t have $10k in the bank to just throw at this thing (or even $1k. Or even $100 right now). It’s just me, doing what I can. If I can even generate a small passive income stream to supplement my current income I’ll be more than happy. Ecstatic even. Because it’s a start, and something I can build on for the future.
I also am worried about my job stability. My income is stable, but not great. I want to know that whatever I do will put food on the table for my family and ultimately bless them. I don’t want to let them down. I know Clay talks a lot about this fear, and it does have a hold on me. I’m not sure how to break it’s hold, but I know I need to.
Well… that’s my ten cent’s worth. Reading these stories is pretty inspiring. Thanks for your time.
TIM
Winning Entry #2: Charlotte

Hi Clay!
First of all, thanks for this contest and for your dedication to making Project Mojave what it is. It’s extremely exciting to watch.
I started my business, inspirIT, as a way to live my values. I’ve been working in the technology field for years, but my efforts have always gone to propping up large banks and corporations – entities which are not geared towards providing freedom for anyone.
Two weeks ago, I left my job to begin working full-time on my business. I could have used the money I was making to slowly grow my business in my spare time – but I don’t want to grow slowly. I didn’t want to keep snatching hours out of my day to grow inspirIT (I was only sleeping 3 hours a night for a while, spending every waking moment doing things like building my site, doing client work, etc). I wanted to openly declare and live my values – freedom for myself and others, the pursuit of art and creativity, and giving freely back to the world.
I’ve worked with several wonderful clients so far who absolutely rave about the service they’ve received… but I’m at a bit of a loss right now as to how to find more people to grow this thing.
This is where Project Mojave comes in. I could continue growing inspirIT by trial and error. I WILL continue to do so if I don’t get into Project Mojave. But I want to reach more of my Right People sooner. I want to be able to use my knowledge of and love for technology to free brilliant, creative people to do their best work. I want to contribute to the world by helping others contribute to the world. To do that in the best and fastest manner possible, however, I need expert guidance. Guidance in finding my Right People. Guidance in figuring out how to best help them. Guidance in providing the most value to the people I work with.
My whole soul, will, and being are invested in this project. I think my passion for technology and entrepreneurship – and for life in general – could power a city. And I’ve only found this passion and dedication increasing in the time I’ve been free from working for others. I’ll do absolutely whatever it takes to make this thing a success.
(Also, eventually I’d like to free myself up to do my most creative work – to finally finish a novel I’ve had in me since I was 12. This is also where I need your help to set up my business model in such a way as to provide maximum freedom for my own creativity as well.)
Thanks so much for this opportunity,
Charlotte

“…we’ll have built a business that creates $50K/year in six weeks….”
The last six weeks have been a blur. I’ve neglected my blog… As well as many other things in my life. But I’ve also had some really amazing things happen…. It all started back in January… I set a goal to make $1000/month of passive income. I mostly wanted to make enough passive income so that I wouldn’t have to write a check for my student loans every month. So I set a goal of making $1000/month by December 31, 2009. I’ve tried a lot of things over the past five months… and nothing seemed to stick. Until I found this really sweet “Business Litmus Test” from Clay Collins. It was designed to teach people how to find niches and tell if they’ll be profitable or not before ever entering them. I found a niche that looked like it had potential. And to make a really, really long story short, it did. The last six weeks I’ve been busting my ass… Most nights I’d come home from work and work on this until 11 or 12. Last week, the site I built launched, which kept me up until at least 2 or 3 a.m. for four days straight, preparing for the launch. But now that it’s launched, I can tell you that it was worth every minute. We launched Thursday night. (I say “We” because I partnered with a really great guy from Ohio.) So we launched Thursday and now we have a membership site that is bringing in roughly $5,000 of revenue every month. Assuming that attrition rates aren’t too bad, we’ll have built a business that creates $50K/year in six weeks. Which is really amazing when I stop and think about it… And I never would have found this niche if it wasn’t for Clay Collins’ Project Mojave… Clay is brilliant… and if you’re at all interested in internet marketing or creating “freedom businesses” as he calls them, you absolutely HAVE to join this community.
-Andy D.
“I’ve launched an additional online business that’s allowing me to make a sizeable income.”
Let me tell you what Project Mojave has allowed me to do:
- I’ve increased readership on [my] blog by over 100%
- I’ve increased my blog revenue by 400% (in 3 months)
- I’ve launched an additional online business that’s allowing me to make a sizeable income.
Thus I’ve reached my goal, which I established when I started PM, of being able to pay for (most of) law school. Project Mojave is not some sort of sketchy internet marketing program…Clay started Project Mojave because he wants people to be able to have the income they need to live the life they want. He calls it creating a freedom business. For many people this means quitting their jobs and spending more time with their families, for others it’s about being able to travel around the world and not worry about money. I’m probably the odd one for wanting to afford to go to law school. Clay advocates finding the intersection of what you are passionate about and what can make you money and he gives you the tools to do this. Again, it’s not selling a sketchy product, but selling something that you believe in that people want to buy. It’s about helping people. Project Mojave is a solid program which I would wholeheartedly recommend.

“I just ran my July earnings and I pulled in $1650 last month on my blog — so this is without the project launch that I’m JVing next week.”
Hey, Clay, just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work with PM. I just ran my July earnings and I pulled in $1650 last month on my blog — so this is without the project launch that I’m JVing next week. But it was through the keyword research modules that I was able to go back and optimize a few old posts and boost my affiliate sales. Just to put the earnings in perspective this is 4x what I earned 4 months ago and 2x last month’s earnings. So thank you. I’ll post to the forums with the results of the product launch. Hopefully it will push me past my earnings goal and allow me to pay for college!

“Clay Collins immediately got me a 1318% increase in traffic.”
Clay Collins immediately got me a 1318% increase in traffic. I’ve been an internet marketer for years and I have personally never seen ANYTHING like it. Even when one of the big “Gurus” tried to get me more traffic he was only able to do a fifth of what Clay did. It really didn’t take much effort on my part either, I’ll admit, the content I created was my highest quality to date, but Clay used his evil magic on it the tsunami of visitors just showed up and hasn’t stopped. What’s really cool is the visitors are high value, I had a low bounce rate and got a ton of qualified opt-ins. Clay Collins is a genius.

“20 minutes on the phone with Clay may earn me tens of thousands of dollars this year.”
20 minutes on the phone with Clay may earn me tens of thousands of dollars this year. He clarified my thinking and set me in the right direction. Project Mojave is THE blueprint for a "freedom business."

“Project Mojave has been such an amazing eye-opening experience…”
Project Mojave has been such an amazing eye-opening experience and the thoughtfulness Clay brings to this is truly unrivaled. He goes above and beyond to answer the call to help you out every step of the way. I’m really happy I subscribed and wouldn’t think twice about it again. Thanks Clay.

“Project Mojave is by far the best course and community of its kind I’ve seen.”
Project Mojave is by far the best course and community of its kind I’ve seen. I knew keyword research, but what I learned from Clay here was how to think critically and analyze that data profitably. I’ve seen incredible ‘ah-ha!’ pieces of information that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I’ve been exposed to tools and techniques I never knew existed. I didn’t expect to have my eyes opened to this extent. If you join, learn and implement on the gold that’s in here, your success is assured.

“This [Freedom Business] roadmap distinguishes this site from all the other internet business classes….”
This [Freedom Business] roadmap distinguishes this site from all the other internet business classes I’ve tried. It lays out the process, has the nerve to assign a timeline, and has the content tied directly to it. It seems like a no-brainer to include something like this, but I will tell you, I have not found it at other sites. Go Clay!
-Doug Bracey
“… I’m only a few weeks into the course, but already it has given me what I need – focus, direction, guidance and advice.”
I’d spent nearly a year toying with the idea of creating a ‘freedom business’ and then spent a further 6 months researching and trying to build something myself. I learned a lot, but didn’t end up with anything tangible (i.e., a business) or, crucially, any income. Then along came Project Mojave… I’m only a few weeks into the course, but already it has given me what I need – focus, direction, guidance and advice. The video formats work really well alongside the written content – and the 1:1 sessions are hugely beneficial. I now feel I’m on the right track and fully expect to provide a further testimonial in the near future stating that my freedom business is up-and-running and that I have successfully generated income from it. Clay delivers what he says he will deliver in his own unique and refreshing style. I’ve finished my first product and made the website live – last night I even had my first sale! There is no way I would have achieved this without Project Mojave. Therefore I’d like to say a really BIG THANK YOU to Clay, the faculty members and every other Project Mojave member who has in some way inspired and motivated me to keep going. This is the best community.
-Mark Benjamin
“This is world-class information you are sharing.”
Clay, you continue to amaze. This is AWESOME material. And you provided the code for the redirect and the links to setting up Google analytic tracking. I visit this site every day and I continue to be blown out of my shoes. You aren’t charging enough for this stuff, my friend. This is world-class information you are sharing. Incredible.
-M. Fournier
“You’re an inspiration as far as looking after your members goes!”
Hi Clay, Thought I’d let you know you’re doing an awesome job of running this site. You’re an inspiration as far as looking after your members goes!
-Iain Gray
“That’s Clay — extremely knowledgeable and passionate about helping people.”
Clay’s passion, sincerity, and authenticity is unmatched. His experience is completely evident. With all the hype there are really only a small handful out there who really know what it takes — the work and dedication. Clay is not only one of those elites, but among those there are even fewer who are really passionate about sharing their knowledge to REALLY help people. That’s Clay — extremely knowledgeable and passionate about helping people. Project Mojave members are tightly focused on a very similar goal though we’re all different people. Here that goal is not only creating a low hour work week "freedom business", it’s also helping and encouraging each other to do the same. They’re some AMAZING people here who have already achieved a LOT. There are even a few BIG names with more to come I’m sure. Easiest testimonial I’ve ever had to write.

“…the blueprint has some of the best content I’ve ever seen on this topic.”
You’ve given me a whole new perspective on running a business that has freedom as part of its design from the start; and the blueprint has some of the best content I’ve ever seen on this topic. My business is taking shape in my mind and it’s a BUSINESS not just another dog-and-pony trick desperately trying to keep one step ahead of Google.

“Clay, you are…a beacon of authenticity….”
Clay, you are just as revolutionary now as you ever were… even just by being a beacon of authenticity and fresh perspective in a sea of repackaged rebranded snake-oil. There’s a time for looking at the world and calling ‘bullshit’ and there’s a time for taking concrete action to change it… at least for a few people… and then a few more. And I’m glad you recognize what it’s time for….
-J. Barclay
“When I think of where I was just five months ago, this is a dream come true.”
You’re an excellent business role model for me. When I think of where I was just five months ago, this is a dream come true.

“ I already have an internet business that earns me about 144K… But what Clay brings to the mix is the actual nuts and bolts of how to DO it.”
I can’t say enough about how much I love Project Mojave. Clay is incredible and his material is really top-notch. He might not be as polished as some, but that’s actually part of his appeal: he isn’t some coddled Harvard grad spinning theories, but someone REAL, making it happen in the real world. What I’ve gotten from Project Mojave has completely turned on its head everything I’ve been doing for the past 8 years. I already have an internet business, and it earns me about $144K a year, all from laptop and cell phone. Which sounds great and all, but the reality is, it’s little more than a glorified job. I’m working from a laptop, but I spend 50+ hours a week at the damn thing. Not exactly a "freedom" business. And it’s not going to change unless I change how things work. And that’s what Project Mojave has inspired: a vision for what it could be and how I can build something out of what I’ve already got, but where it will run without me. Replacing myself in the mix; automating everything; marketing it to a larger audience. I’ve read books on all of this, of course. We probably all have. But what Clay brings to the mix is the actual nuts and bolts of how to DO it. The books give you a lot of theory, and they’re motivating (at least for a while), but they don’t show you how it’s actually done, down in the trenches, where the businesses are actually built. The insights and real-world approaches conveyed in even the first one or two videos in Project Mojave were alone worth ten times the price of admission. Recommendation if you are thinking of jumping in with Project Mojave: Do it FAST before Clay realizes he should be charging at least 5X as much for memberships!
-Michael Fisher
“We pulled in about $3,500 during the launch and are continuing at a rate at about $100/day.”
…after considering many, many, many markets I ended up working with a friend. We had our product launch two weeks ago and it was a big success. We pulled in about $3500 during the launch and are continuing at a rate at about $100/day. That’s my victory in a nutshell. Anyhow, I am very excited about our launch and the continuing sales. I was frankly a little unsure that I would get to a freedom business point in three months when I signed up for PM [Project Mojave], but it looks like I have! I couldn’t have done this without PM and all of the great people who are a part of it.

If You Check out Nothing Else This Week, Make Sure You See . . .
- This two-minute video: it’s about how I’ll be selecting a Project Mojave Member’s business idea and turning it into a successful freedom business in 3.8 months . . . we’ll hold a contest to see who’s business idea gets selected. (We won’t ONLY be *teaching* Project Mojave members how to build a Freedom Business. We’ll be showing them as well . . . because while you’re building a Freedom Business, I will be also — and showing you everything I can).
- Make sure you also check out the Freedom Business blueprint.
So . . . as you probably know, I’m opening Project Mojave on Tuesday. To 200 people.
Now check this out… I’m going to run a little contest here and give Project Mojave to two winners: I’ll announce the winners on Monday evening.
This is YOUR chance to win Project Mojave
This Will Only Take a Couple of Minutes . . . All You Have to Do Is Answer ONE Question
In the comments section of this blog post, tell me . . .
1.) Why you think Project Mojave can help you create a successful, thriving Freedom Business. (Or, if you already have a successful Freedom Business, tell us why you think Project Mojave is the course that can help you take it to the next level).
(Note: If you’re particularly excited about *watching* me build a business “in the trenches” with you — while YOU’RE also building one — then . . . let me know EXACTLY which aspect of business building you most want to watch).
That’s it!
Entries with more SPECIFICS have a better chance of winning.
And …
If you’re a current Project Mojave member, feel free to leave me a note about some of the results you’ve achieved, and if YOU win, I’ll upgrade your membership to a LIFETIME membership of Project Mojave . . . as well as throw in a LIFETIME membership to every other product I create.
On Sunday and Monday, I’m going to go through every single one of your responses and award a winner early Tuesday morning.
If you win, you’re gonna get…
1. Complete access to the Project Mojave portal, where we cover everything you’ll need to build a freedom business.
2. Access to “Q and A” call-in days so you can call us with your most pressing business building questions
I will award two winners.
I’m really excited to read your entry and hear what you have to say . . .
Good Luck!
P.S. – Remember, Project Mojave opens to the first 200 people this coming Tuesday the 13th at 5PM Eastern: just go here [insert link] at that time.<

Friday Freedom (Issue #1): Purpose as Complete Invasion
Infinite purpose and intolerable bondage often look the same.
At least from the outside.
A slave might be compelled by his captors (and the threat of death) to toil for hours each day. And get nothing in return.
And a purpose-filled woman or man may lay down their life, liberty, and "freedom" for their mission . . . in complete devotion, without complaint, and with utter disregard for compensation.
A workaholic might be driven by fear, feelings of insufficiency, or self-hatred to burn the midnight oil night after night, work weekends, and sacrifice their personal life for a corporation.
And a purpose-filled person might do the same (for entirely different reasons) . . . because they’ve been beautifully wrecked by their vision.
Purpose as Complete Invasion
When you live with convicted devotion to your vision, it touches every part of your life.
It invades your dreams. It infiltrates your friendships and relationships. It screws with your bank accounts (and any other sacred cows you might have).
No stone is left unturned.
A true purpose will invade your depth, it will seep into every nook and cranny of your life.
It will beautifully fuck you up (but it will fuck you up nonetheless).
And if you’re living with complete conviction, it just might kill you. And you’ll willingly pay the price.
Infinite Purpose as Total Freedom
If you are waiting for your needs to be met before you let down your guard and fully live your purpose, then you limit your freedom. And you suffer.
If you are waiting for "enough" money, enough time, or enough strength . . . before you start building the (better) world you dream of, then you become a slave to condition.
If you are holding back your talents, your vision, and your gifts from the world . . . until you feel safe enough, loved enough, or appreciated enough, then you hold your fullness hostage to circumstance.
True freedom comes when we develop the courage to give what we must . . . without condition, and without exception.
Will you wait until you are "properly" paid, loved, and appreciated before you live fully, love fully, and incarnate your vision (i.e. will you wait forever)? Or will you choose to open and give fully now?
How does your choice feel?
