Call Me

I’m on vacation during the first part of this week (posts will resume on Thursday) and have used my free time to talk to some of you.  The conversations have been lively, rewarding, and well worth the time.  If you’d like to chat, feel free to pick up the phone and call 612-235-6362 (contrary to some rumors, I’m not armed and dangerous).

-Clay

P.S. This is a little crazy considering how large TGL’s subscriber base has grown, but I’ll try my best.  Oh, and I’m in the Central Time Zone (GMT -6:00).

To all those wondering, I've received about 15 calls so far. Not bad. I'll be returning voice mails tomorrow and the day after.

@Pat R and @Peter: Thanks guys. I try. This blogosphere is much smaller than people think and it's nice to pick up the phone every once in a while and see what happens. So far no weirdos have called. Everyone's been genuine and forthright. Quite a refreshing experience and experiment.
  • Clay,

Well, you always seem to post something unique and different on this blog. Let us know how many calls you get.

    Peter
  • How many calls have you gotten? That's what I like about you - you put yourself out there 100%.

Enjoy your vacation and free time - life truly is good!

    Blessings,

Enjoy your "vacation" Clay. And good luck with the paper!

@Liara: Yeah, this is a "vacation from ..." work and blogging to fulfill other commitments, rather than a vacation in the purest sense. (Not that I want a vacation from blogging, because writing is my true passion). And while free time is precious, I've managed to create a life where I have plenty of volitional time. I have time to stare at the wall and think, and I have the mobility necessary to attend to this sacred business of living in a manner relevant to me. Come mid-week and I'm back to life as usual, which is a healthy mix of consistent vacationing and work. Life is good.
  • I think its curious how we each choose to define "vacation." When people choose to take on more and more things during such precious moments, it is not a wonder you hear people say they need a real vacation to recover from their last vacation.

Lets see, Central Time is 2 hours ahead of me so if I call you at 2 am, right before I go to bed it will be 4 am your time and...... Just Kidding :)

    Have a good vacation.

@Chris: My version of vacation is finishing a final paper for this season of grad school, so feel free to bug me :-). You can always leave a message and I'll call you back. And yes, please do let me know if you're ever in Madison. This place is great and so is the Union.
  • I'm almost tempted to call you but I wont because as you said you are on vacation. Enjoy Dude!

Maybe next time I visit my Alma Mater I will look you up and we can have a cold one at the Union.
  • You must be crazy ;) maybe thats why we come and read your blog?

Hi Clay - I'm a brand new subscriber and haven't had a chance to digest much of the great content on your blog. I'll get to it though, I promise you. :-)

Thanks for the visit to and kind words about my little blog. Where would I be without folks like you to provide a steady stream of ideas for consideration and comment?

    regards,

    NJR

@Vered: Well, I don't know about endearing and precious :-), but I certainly am insane. Thank you for the nice comment, Vered.
  • Clay! You are completely insane, in the most endearing, precious way!!!

It takes a lot of courage to open yourself up to your readers like that.
  • I will call you later this morning, on my way back from Portland.
