The Liberation Revolution – Time To Cut the Cubicle Umbilical Cord
Cubicle-dissenters and freedom-seekers, I present you with this manifesto on the liberation revolution.
This movement happening all around us is, quite literally, the story of mental bondage to freedom. People everywhere are finding liberation through ditching the work-template and living on their own terms.
If this movement interests you, we’d like you to be a part of it.
You kick so much ass, it would be a shame to see that squandered by asphyxiation, due to fluorescent lighting and pointless committee meetings.
What you’ll find in this manifesto is 5,000 free words on the characteristics of this uprising. You’ll hear the reasons of others and why they’re committed to the freedom of working for themselves and reclaiming their time.

DOWNLOAD THE MANIFESTO HERE.
———————————————The reason for this:
People have long been ditching the employee model of life, but rarely has there been a collective banding together of individuals to support each other in this movement. This manifesto is an attempt to create a coherent, articulate representation of the reason we are unsatisfied with the work-template and seeking a new paradigm.
What’s under the hood:
- Why we’re tired of choking back vomit because we’re going another day doing a job we hate, with people we don’t connect with, working for someone we don’t respect.
- How we’re transforming our relationship with work, through breaking down social conventions and overly politicized nonsense.
- Why we think entrepreneurship is one of the highest forms of self-actualization.
- How we’re in this together.
- How to cultivate the “Free-man” (or free-woman) mindset and seven things you can do right now.
- The importance of getting to Game Over.
Are you totally down with this revolution? Is this something you’ve been waiting for?
Here’s how you can help:
- Spread the word. Send this manifesto to your friends, family, or co-worker that’s about to commit suicide (she needs to read this). Tweet about it, stumble this page, print it out and post it on the telephone polls on your block.
- Declare your freedom. No better way can you help strengthen this revolution than by declaring your own sovereignty. By reclaiming your own freedom, you give others the courage to do the same.
Lastly, thank you. You kick ass.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Mead

The Liberation Revolution – sounds pretty good doesn’t it? If you’re anything like me, then you might be a little bit sceptical and think it’s too good to be true.
I was lucky enough to be one of the founding members (one of the first 150 who signed up the moment it first began). That means I’m in a pretty good position to tell you first hand whether it’s worth your time… and let me tell you, IT ABSOLUTELY IS!
I’d been reading and toying with ways to ‘make this happen’ for me – and a year down the line my interest was stronger than ever, but I’d got precisely NOWHERE in terms of making it a reality. Anyway, I joined the ‘Liberation Revolution’ (becoming a member of Project Mojave) and I’m pleased to report that yesterday was my last as an employee! My success is now entirely dependent on me, which is a scary and exciting place to be.
Well, if you want to find out more, keep your eyes peeled, because you’re going to be hearing a LOT more about it over the coming days, weeks and months. Don’t be a sceptic – take it from a sceptic that nervously put his money where his mouth was, you won’t be disappointed.
Join the revolution, live the life you want…
Just came across this project today, amazing! Inspiring stuff. I’ve been reading Jonathan’s other stuff for about a month or so now. And I’m glad this is all reaching a critical mass – at least it is for me. I’m also at a point where I’m ready to grow past the ceiling I’ve reached, which is probably largely a ceiling I’ve made. Glad to be meeting all of you in the lifehack community!:)
Jonathan– Another home run. My favorite line (because I had this exact thought today, almost word for word): “We also know that the major problem with employment is that most of the time, your personal values don’t line up with that of the company you’re working for.” I think people really underesitmate how disheartening it can be when this happens, when you have to decide when to sit back and let things slide and when you should speak up– and risk losing your job. As always, I really appreciate your no-nonsense style– it’s exactly the kick in the pants a lot of us need. Thanks again! =)

That’s it
Live and let live
Aloha!
So I am not crazy!!!!
I am thinking I have found a tribe ….I have been looking for the way to have the business to keep me going while I create the mission business. You are so speaking my language. Many fits and starts here so I am ready for MORE of your info.
Big Mahalo to
Dave Navarro and Michael Martine who both sent me email on this.
Please do let me know how I can add to your community…which by the way I am looking for more info on.This feels more like community than just another way to get your blog up and running….I am deeply impressed as you have touched my soul
So what now?
Phenomenal manifesto guys!
I echo your sentiments and pose the question:
How will you teach people to separate the get-rich-quick scheme and a “freedom business” that will integrate your passion with what your customers desperately want? How will you keep your “magic bullets” honest and profitable?
I truly look forward to watching how this project progresses.
Thanks Clay & Jonathan.

Making Sense with Creative Writing
I came across Project Mojave through Jonathan (I’ve been a fan of Illuminated Mind for a few months now, so thanks again for the great info/advice) and I have been very excited to learn more andd more about it. For a couple of years I have been toying with the idea of creating a selfdevelopment site and this project seems to have come at the right time. I’m a part of the project now, and have lots to think about, lots of stuff to define. Great blue print Clay! Count me in!
Susana
Brilliant! This totally sums up where I’ve been headed for the past several months.
Project Mojave appeared at the perfect time for me. I’m still just in the very beginning stages of starting my own freedom business, but this training is so thorough and so ass-kicking, that I know I’ll never go back to working at a regular “job.” My job now is to hack away at the chains until I can truly be say I’m directing the course of my own life.
I’m printing this out and taping it up above my desk. No more excuses.
Just finished inhaling the manifesto. Your message is timely and much needed. And your writing/delivery is brilliant.
I “discovered” you a couple months ago and have become a huge fan, Jonathan.
Congrats on your appointment as the Director of Ass Kicking for the Project Mojave program. Hopefully I’ll see and get to know you on the inside.
I know the program (and you) will make a big splash in the online biz arena and I wish you a huge amount of success.
Clay, I would like to watch the first video again and to have friends watch it too. where can I find it?
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Let’s start storming the White House already and shake up this country.
Glad you guys are leading the pack.
You know I am with you all the way.
Katie
Holy Crap! Are you living in my head? I just read the manifesto and Hallelujah! someone else thinks like I do. Thank you so much for everything you’ve written and done so far, its truly inspirational. And like Money Energy above, I can feel the critical mass approaching and its time for a change in the weather. Just the idea that the conventional rules of play are changing is amazing – how exciting to be a part of it. Congrats on leading the charge. Can’t wait to see what’s next and how I can get involved
Thanks again, Jonathan and Clay! You guys rock!
Jonathan!
Thanks for the ass-kicking! I so needed to read this right now. I look forward to being a part of this, and getting my life back on track. I can’t wait to read more! Let me know if I can do anything to help you bring this into reality.

Thank you for kicking my ass! I needed this today! (or 4 years ago actually, but who am I to quibble over the exact number of days). This is fabulous. There are a few lines in here that I am going to put on a post it and tape to my mirror when I think I need to choose a cube over freedom.
I think #7 under “7 things you can do right now” speaks to me the most, because for the longest time I struggled with the practical side of myself telling me that my passions were silly or ridiculous. But no more! I have been pursuing what I love by getting myself educated about them, and being willing to step out and take a chance telling some key people about it. So far so good. If I meet someone who tells me I’m being ridiculous, so be it.
I’m on board. This is a great project, something I think millions of people all across the continent have been contemplating for decades but we need support and a blueprint. Most people just don’t know how, don’t have the courage, or give up out of frustration, criticism or doubt. I feel as if your declaration of this movement/revolution is a precursor to my thoughts over the last 15 years. I remember back when I was waitressing buying a book called “how to survive in the wilderness.” I’m not kidding, for years I’ve been living in misery, feeling trapped by pouring my energies into corporations and literally standing at attention at the desks of old white despotic men. Recently (just before your project launched actually) I left LA and quit my corporate job of 4 years to start my own graphics freelance business. I moved to Portland. Your project makes me feel like I am not crazy. Makes me feel included and more importantly, gives me the recourses and human connections I need with like minded people.
Finished reading the manifesto (and digesting Jonathan’s blog found via twitter, in turn via the manifesto) and just wanted to drop you guys a line to say “thank you.” Thanks for, essentially, putting everything I’ve ever thought about conventional work into one clever and easy to read package that I can send on to others. Thanks for posting your collective heart and soul on your blog. I’ve “saved for later” a crapload of posts in my RSS reader — I might have to start my own blog so I can fully digest and respond to the firestorm of thoughts they’re setting off in me. Jonathan’s blog in particular seems like the “last straw” in terms of telling the gods about what you really want. I really appreciate that and I’m grateful to finally feel some shred of inspiration after a very long time doing the needful. As a previous commenter pointed out, doing the needful is no longer enough anymore, for any variety of reasons.
I myself am on a journey to create my own “freedom biz” and am always on the lookout for hype-free, crap-free information and inspiration. I’m heartened by blogs like yours and by endeavors like Project Mojave. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for all of us.
Thanks again for all you’re doing.
My favorite points:
They view us as human capital, we are laborers and it’s a master servant relationship
We want freedom to work wards your own goals not your employers. We want freedom to live.
Security/Freedom are not mutually exclusive–why do you think that they call prison “maximum security”. You have no freedom but you are absolutely secure–food, water, shelter every single day.
Screw paying our dues. Let’s do it.

Okay, I’ve just read the manifesto. I have and I love it, I do. And I’ve been getting Clay’s email and I get Johnny’s emails and I get Creating Fame’s emails so I’m hearing it. But I’m also a little older then all of you and I have a mortgage and a kid…and a husband in a cubicle who thinks I should be a cubicle. It’s an interesting dilemma to have. If you look at my site (http://www.mizbusiness.com) you’ll see that I’m focusing my energy on a subgroup your groups, the “have tos” – I mean I actually have to start a business on line because there are no jobs in my beautiful town right now, and some have to because they really want to be home with there beautiful new baby and some people get sick, actually sick and realize they can’t sit at a cubicle all day because they don’t feel well but they do have to pay the bills.
Anyway, 10 years ago, before I had a husband and a kiddo and a mortgage and a possibly chronic illness I didn’t think about these issues, and Project Mojave’s manifesto would have been 100% perfect instead of really perfect for people who don’t have those extra monkeys on their back. I’m gonna stick around and see what happens here and I think it’s awesome and hopefully you’ll have some wisdom for those of us with heavier backpacks.
Cheers,
Diane
